Door Frames

Door frames provide the structural surround into which an internal door is hung, forming the lining that is fixed into the wall opening and against which the door operates. A well-fitted door frame ensures the door hangs square, opens and closes smoothly throughout its life, and creates a stable base for the architrave trim to be fixed against. At McMahons, we stock timber door frames in standard sizes suited to domestic residential door openings.

Our Door Frames Range

  • Standard door lining sets - pre-cut softwood door lining sets comprising two leg pieces and a head piece, rebated to accept the door leaf and architrave, available in standard heights and widths to suit common domestic door openings including standard 2040mm and taller 2100mm door heights.
  • Adjustable split door linings - frame sets with an adjustable width to accommodate walls of different thicknesses without the need for custom cutting or packing, providing a faster, more versatile installation for walls that vary from the standard 100mm timber stud dimension.

When fitting a door frame, always check the wall opening for plumb and square before installation - a door hung in an out-of-plumb frame will never operate correctly regardless of how carefully the door is hung. Pack the frame legs plumb using timber packers before fixing, and use a minimum of three fixing points per leg.
