Larch is one of the most naturally durable softwoods available, prized for its excellent resistance to decay and attractive grain pattern. This European timber develops a beautiful silver-grey patina when left untreated outdoors, making it a popular choice for exterior cladding, fencing, and garden structures where longevity and visual appeal are equally important.
Our Larch Timber Selection
McMahons stocks Siberian Larch (Larix Decidua) in kiln dried sawfalling grade, available in two sections (150x50mm and 150x25mm) priced per metre.
Siberian Larch is one of the most naturally durable softwoods available, significantly denser and more resistant to decay than common construction softwoods. Its high resin content and tight grain make it well suited to exterior applications including cladding, fencing, decking, and garden structures where long-term performance in exposed conditions is needed without the requirement for chemical treatment.
The sawfalling grade means the timber is taken directly as it falls from the sawmill, without further grading or sorting. This makes it a practical and cost-effective choice for projects where character, natural variation, and larger knots are acceptable, and often desirable for a rustic, natural aesthetic in cladding and fencing applications.
